Tilurij
The heavy feet of Roman legionnaires walked the roads of Dalmatia for centuries, building roads, military and commercial facilities and the entire accompanying infrastructure. On the plateau above Trilj, they also built the Roman military camp Tilurij, which represents one of the most important military centers from the time when Dalmatia was a Roman province.
Nutjak fortress
If you want to combine fascinating history and an enchanting landscape in one, head three kilometers south of Trilj to the Nutjak fortress. It was built on a cliff above the Cetina river canyon. For centuries, many fought for supremacy over it, but all the glory is attributed to Prince Žarko Dražojević, who had it built at the end of the 15th century
The Cetina river
Discover the canyon of the green river Cetina, its hidden caves and waterfalls with an unforgettable rafting and canyoning experience. If you are not up for adrenaline you can explore the local way of life and try your hand at river fishing with a professional guide

Trilj as the cradle of football

Did you know that Trilj is actually the cradle of football? According to historical findings, football was first played in the town of Gardun near Trilj. The official gazette of FIFA, the leading football organization, wrote about this. The tombstone of the Roman boy Gaius Liberius holding a ball in his hand was found near the Roman military camp Tiluria, and it is considered as a solid evidence that the first football in the world was played here. Today, the monument is built into the facade of a house in Vrlička street in Sinj
