May Day celebration (“Prvosvibanjski uranak”) is a long-standing tradition held in Baška Voda since the 1960s, marking International Workers’ Day on May 1st. It is one of the most cheerful folk-entertainment events on the Makarska Riviera. The multi-day event attracts thousands of domestic and international visitors, fills accommodation capacities, and gives a strong boost to the tourist season. It features a mix of tradition, concerts, and fun competitions such as donkey races, waiter races, and walking on a greased beam, accompanied by local specialties in Baška Voda restaurants.

Cycling Marathon “Catch the Wind”

“Catch the Wind” is a popular recreational MTB marathon held every year in Sutivan on the island of Brač. The race gathers hundreds of cyclists from Croatia and abroad and is known for spectacular landscapes, challenging trails, and a relaxed island atmosphere.
It takes place at the beginning of May, organized by the local tourist board and the Municipality of Sutivan. Competitors can choose between several categories and trail lengths – Bonaca (20+ km), Vitar (40+ km), Bura (70+ km), and Gravel category (100+ km). Special features include E-bike and children’s races.
Alongside the adrenaline competition, the event is accompanied by a rich entertainment and gastronomic program, making it one of the most attractive sports and tourism events on the Adriatic.
