3rd SPUŽARICA – Sponge and Tradition Festival

Spužarica An authentic eno-gastro event celebrating the centuries-old tradition of collecting and preparing snails (“vineyard snails”) in the Vrgorac area. Based on rich history and local customs, the festival revives unique gastronomic heritage through tastings of traditional dishes, participation of local restaurateurs and winemakers, and accompanying entertainment. The name comes from the local term “spužarica,” referring to a type of spring and autumn rain ideal for collecting snails, preserving the region’s linguistic heritage. Guests can expect top flavors, a relaxed Dalmatian atmosphere, musical program, and an authentic experience combining food, traditions, and socializing.

Dalmatian Prosciutto and Wine Days A two-day eno-gastro and entertainment event held for the ninth year in Vrgorac. It has become the largest Dalmatian prosciutto fair in Croatia and one of the most recognized events in the region. Set in a historic Austro-Hungarian park and city streets, the festival turns Vrgorac into a “festival in the city” with multiple stages, a rich fair, and varied programs. Focus is on the largest certified Dalmatian prosciutto (EU-protected), with other certified prosciuttos from Croatia and abroad, excellent native wines, and a variety of local delicacies. Visitors can taste premium products, meet producers from the region, and enjoy the combination of gastronomy, tradition, and entertainment through cooking shows, workshops, competitions, and evening concerts. Tens of thousands attend each year.

26th FOLK FESTIVAL BIKLIJADA

For over a quarter of a century, it has revived original customs, offering an evening market of local products, folklore, culinary activities, and diverse entertainment programs, creating a lively atmosphere enjoyed by locals and visitors alike, especially during the post-season.
